Incidence of Antibodies to Il1α in Controls and in Patients with Arthritis

چکیده
needed to detect patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) at high risk of developing a destructive form of the disease as this may influence the choice of early treatment. Among the cytokines produced by the inflammatory synovium, interleukin 1 (IL1) appears to have a predominant role in joint destruction. Specific regulation of IL1 involves natural mechanisms, including soluble IL1 receptors, IL1 receptor antagonist (IL1ra), and anti-IL antibodies. 2 Autoantibodies directed against cytokines were first described in 1989 as being mostly of the IgG isotype and binding with high affinity mainly to IL1α. It is easy to imagine that defects in this natural regulation may contribute to changes in disease incidence and severity. However, definite demonstration of this association needs confirmation from different studies. With reference to the new study published in this issue of the Annals, we will focus on the effect of autoantibodies to IL1α on disease presentation.

Frequency and Accuracy of Anti-Citrullinated Protein Antibodies, Prognostic Evaluation in Overall Developing to Erosive Disease in Patients with Psoriatic Seronegative Osteoarthropathy
Anti-cyclic peptide antibodies (CCP/ACPA) are directed towards synthetic citrullinated peptides and are specific markers in diagnosis of Rheumatoid arthritis. This study aimed to compare the values and acuracy of the test in anticyclic citrullinated peptides (Anti-CCP /ACPA) antibodies, rheumatoid factor (RF), C-reactive protein (CRP) and disease activity index (PASI) in early diagnosis of untr...
متن کاملComparison of sensitivity and specificity of anti-CCP and anti-MCV antibodies in an Iranian cohort of patients with rheumatoid arthritis
Background: Anti-CCP is a test commonly used for the diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. The aim of this study was to determine the diagnostic values of ACCP compared to anti-MCV in rheumatoid arthritis patients in north of Iran. Methods: The serum samples of 150 RA patients and 75 controls, with the mean age of 49.6+11.8 and 48.8+12 years respectively, were tested using the commercially availa...

Bacterial and viral triggers are suspected agents in the initial etiology of autoimmune diseases. There are some studies on the etiology of autoimmune disorders which have focused on streptococcal infection and a possible relation with microbial heat shock proteins (hsp) which show significant homology with human heat shock proteins. In addition, some serotypes of streptococci cross-react ...
متن کاملبررسی میزان آنتی بادی علیه Parovirus B19 در بیماریهای التهابی روماتیسمی در مقایسه با گروه شاهد
Introduction: Some viral infections have been suggested to trigger or cause autoimmune diseases. One of these viruses is parvovirus B19 which can have various rheumatologic manifestations. In this study we investigated the association between parvovirus and rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosis(SLE), systemic sclerosis(SSc) and undifferentiated arthritis at the Rheumatological...

Abstract Background: Rheumatoid Arthritis, (RA) is a chronic inflammatory autoimmune disease with a progressive course requiring early diagnosis and treatment. The value of anti-cyclic citrullinated peptide antibodies (Anti-CCP) in the diagnosis of RA has been shown in several studies. The present study was designed to determine and compare the diagnostic value of Anti-CCP and rheumatoid fac...
